Mr. Jaba is an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Public Law. He obtained his LL.B and LL.M Degrees from the University of Dar es Salaam School of Law (UDSoL) in 2009 and 2011, respectively. He joined the UDSoL in 2009 as a Tutorial Assistant and proceeded to a rank of an Assistant Lecturer in 2011. Currently, he is a Commonwealth Scholar and a Doctoral candidate at the University of Warwick (England) after completing his MPhil Programme in 2017. Mr. Jaba is a recipient of the Coca Cola’s ACSEE Award for Best Student in English Language (2004), PITRO Scholarships for UDSM Staff (2009), REPOA Research Bursary (2012/2013), Employee of the Year Award (UDSoL) (2014/2015) and the DFID/Commonwealth Scholarships Tenable in the UK (2016-2019).

Mr. Jaba’s areas of interests are constitutional law, criminology and penology, non-state security actors, public-private divides, plural policing, labour law, juvenile justice, legal drafting, law report writing, document analysis, review and copyediting, and document translation (English/Swahili).
