On 16th May 2019, the University of Dar es Salaam School of Law hosted the 1st National NCIA Arbitration Law Moot Court Competition in order to get a team that will represent Tanzania in the Regional rounds to be held in the end of May and early June 2019 in Nairobi, Kenya. The moot was sponsored by the Nairobi Center for International Arbitration (NCIA). The moot was tailored around the laws and procedures of International Commercial Arbitration applicable to the NCIA.
After the day-long event that was inaugurated by the Associate Dean Dr. S.F. Materu on behalf of the Dean of the University of Dar es Salaam School of Law. The UDSoL team made up of Mellissa Michael (2nd year) Belinda Lwakatare (3rd year) and Stephen Mtui (4th year), won the National Round of the 1st National NCIA Arbitration Moot Court competition and they will represent Tanzania in the regional rounds of the NCIA Arbitration Moot in Nairobi, Kenya later this year where they will compete against other winning teams representing the other EAC states.
